A split Effort between experimental electronic project Mother Anxiety and blackened drone metal project S H R I E K I NG.

Mother Anxiety is a PNW experimental electronic project by author and musician Ben Serna-Grey. Isolation Diary is fueled by the frustration and hopelessness of every little plan falling through. Staring down the barrel of being 30 years old and feeling absolutely stuck. Temporarily living with parents before moving across the country became more permanent due to the COVID pandemic, the temporary day job at the coffee shop turned into a tenured position. Meanwhile the world, and especially America fell deeper and deeper into fascism and he found himself no longer in the town he remembered growing up, but a city full of militant and angry brown shirts. Isolation Diary is a work of mourning and frustration, of intense loneliness, and an aching for change.
Ambient, noise, industrial, folk, jazz, and classical weave together across 4 separate pieces, peppered by the occasional spoken word fragment..

West Coast one-person ambient metal project S H R I E K I N G brings a continuously shifting textural soundscape to this split release with Mother Anxiety - channeling an amalgam of drone, industrial, post metal, black metal, and ambient found samples.
In this split effort, they are experimenting with meditative themes of loneliness and personal sonic imagery of grasping through the endless reaches of outer and inner space. Burning through well after well of inspiration before ending on a progression towards a final note of self-inspection and surrender.

This album fucking rules. I got it on CD, with the transcripts - which definitely was the right choice. It sits in my cd player more often than most cds, and has gotten scores of listens. My little sister LOVES the drumming and guitar, and so do i. Poignant, powerful, and riffy. sawtongue
